November 18th - 22nd

 This week, the Early Childhood had a beautiful day for the ribbon cutting ceremony!  It was a special day where the PK and Kindergarten shared their play with friends and family!  We also celebrated with a special song, Wonderful World!  Thank you to all who were able to attend the ceremony.

This week Justice read a Thanksgiving story to the whole class.  She did a fantastic job!  The students really enjoyed having Justice read to them!  Way to go, Justice!

EVENTS AND REMINDERS

Monday and Tuesday - regular uniform

Tuesday, Nov. 26th - Thanksgiving prayer service (Kindergarten must wear regular uniform)

Tuesday is a half day - noon dismissal, no lunch or PLUS, pick up in the Penn Ave. parking lot

The PK and Kindergarten students are running a school-wide donation drive for Toys for Tots. Please consider donating a new, unwrapped toy to help others during the holiday season.  The drive goes through December 6th.  Boxes are located in the early childhood hallway and lobby.

I would like to wish all of you a blessed and wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and enjoy the time with family and friends!  I am very thankful for my kindergarten students and the HCA community!

GO EAGLES!!!

November 12th - 15th

 This week, we read the story, A Turkey for Thanksgiving by Eve Bunting.  It's a story about Mr. and Mrs. Moose hosting Thanksgiving dinner for their forest friends and wanting to have a turkey for dinner.  Unbeknownst to the turkey, the Mr. and Mrs. Moose want Turkey to come as their guest, not as the meal! By the end of the story, all the forest friends, including Turkey are enjoying a seat at the Thanksgiving table.  After the story, we talked about turkeys and created a list of what turkeys can do, what they are, and what they have.  The students then created a turkey along with a sentence about turkeys!  We had a lot of fun creating the list about turkeys!

 

In math, many of  our students are working on adding two digit numbers together with a partner and building numbers with cards and materials.  The students are learning how to complete this work independently!

November 4th - 7th

 Dressing up in costumes, playing games, and making crafts was a real treat for the Kindergarten class.  Thank you to the Parents' Association for providing lots of fun at the Halloween Mission Party! We had a great day!

The students enjoyed time in the nature space this week.  We talk about working together, listening to our friends, sharing, exploring, and being creative!
