May 18th - 22nd

Our early childhood celebration was a huge success!  It was such a special day shared with all the early childhood families!  A huge thank you to Miss Nast for her musical talents and for preparing the students with two beautiful songs.  Throughout the last few weeks, our unit on chicks has been nothing but pure fun and entertainment!  Being able to watch the chicks grow over the last week and half has brought the children laughter as the chicks run around our circle, to smiles as they eat, drink and chirp quietly in the brooder box, to fondness over naming the chicks and calling them out by name!  Also, learning the process of how a chick hatches out of its egg, and what happens while the chick is still in the egg is nothing short of amazement!

A huge thank you to the parents who spent the morning learning about the chicks during our presentation and writing fantastic chick stories!  And the special picnic snack is always fun!

This week we had two mystery readers!  A huge thank you to Nola's mom and Jack and Miles' dad for taking time this week to be the mystery readers!  The stories are so much fun to hear and having new faces come into the classroom to read has been a blast!

May 11th - 15th

We have egg-citing news!!  Our chicks hatched!!  We came to school Monday to find our incubator filled with baby chicks.  The boys and girls were so happy to see the little chicks moving around and climbing all over the place!  We had to keep them in the incubator until each little chick was fully dried.

This week we celebrated two birthdays in kindergarten!  Happy Birthday Francesca and Seth!
Francesca celebrated her special day with her parents being our mystery readers and Seth celebrated with his classmates by having a glowstick dance party!

A huge thank you to our mystery readers this week!  We are always excited to have the parents come in and read to the class.  This week we were so lucky to have Fiona's mom, and Francesca's mom and dad join us as our mystery readers!

By the middle of the week, we were able to transport our little chicks to the brooder box where we could see them and where they have plenty of room to move about.  They also have food, water, and a little heater to keep them warm!  We were able to get up close to our chicks by forming a large circle with our PreK friends. The teachers placed the chicks in the circle, and we watched as the chicks explored the area.  Some even checked out our sneakers! The students learned to use just two fingers to pet the chicks since they are still young and fragile.  It's been so fun learning about our new little chicks!
