October 12th - 15th

 

This week we welcomed a new student to our Kindergarten class.  Welcome Zhaniel!  We're happy you are a part of our class!

This year, the Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes will be in charge of school drives.  During our prayer service, Greyson accepted the School Drive Coordinators plaque!

Founders Day was FANTASTIC!  A huge thank you to Mrs. Mossor and the Middle School Students for organizing the activities and games!  We had so much fun!

EC progress reports will be emailed home next week. We look forward to speaking with you at conferences via Zoom on October 20-21. Zoom links will be sent home next week.

Student Council will be hosting a tag day on Friday, October 22. Students may pay $1.00 to wear something pink. All proceeds will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

On Friday, October 29, we will have our annual HCA Mission Party. Students may come to school dressed in their Halloween costumes and sneakers. Please make sure costumes do not reflect an evil or frightful tone! We are planning a day filled with games and Halloween fun for the students. Dismissal will be at 12:00 noon that day and there will be no HCA Plus.

October 4th - 8th

 

What a busy week at HCA!  We started our week with the Blessing of the Animals prayer service.  It was so nice to see our community come together on the field with their pets!  

The students continue to work hard with word recognition and handwriting skills.  This week we introduced making patterns in math class.  Our letter of the week was:  Ff and the words of the week were:  we, a.

This week is fire prevention week.  The Upper Darby Fire Department stopped by to make sure we are doing a fantastic job with our fire drills.

Please have your Scholastic Book orders in by the end of Friday, October 8th.

Monday, October 11th is a faculty in-service day. There is NO SCHOOL for students.

On Friday, October 15th, Active Image will take individual student photos.  Please look in your email for a link to purchase the photos in advance. Students may wear free dress, but everyone should still wear sneakers. They will not be seen in the picture.

September 27th - 30th

 

This week the students worked on creating words using the Montessori movable alphabet. We think of a word that begins with a certain letter and write it phonetically.  Next, the students write the word in their journal and create a picture to go with it.  Soon we will start writing phonetic sentences.  This week our words of the week were:  see, the.  The letter of the week was:  B.  

The students really enjoy using the movable alphabet as a center in the classroom.  A list of fall words are displayed so the students can read and copy the words with the materials.

EVENTS AND REMINDERS

Blessing of the Animals is on Monday at 8:15 AM with Rev. Art Tung. Remember:Pets will not be brought into the building. Family members should plan to take pets home after the blessing. 

• Masks must be worn at all times and observe social distancing. 

• Pets must be on a leash or in a carrier, and we ask that you bring a plastic bag in case "nature calls." 

• If a student does not have a pet or s/he cannot bring the pet to school, s/he can bring a picture of the pet or a stuffed animal.   

• If the event cannot be held due to inclement weather, families will be notified via the AMG Alert text message system. We will not reschedule the event. 

Photography day next Friday 10/8. A photographer will be here to take pictures of the students in action throughout the day.  All students should wear their regular uniform, even if they have gym.

Friday, October 8th - Scholastic Book Order Due

There is no school for students on Monday, October 11 due to a faculty in-service day.

Friday, October 15th - School Pictures
