What a busy week leading up to Halloween! This week, many of our students began adding two-digit numbers with our Montessori Bank Game! Some students worked with a partner by gathering the correct materials needed to build their number, then combined the materials to figure out the correct answer to their math problem.
This week we had our second lesson on American Sign Language with the Neumann students. The lesson was on feelings. The students practiced the signs they learned last week and then learned new ones this week such as, happy, sad, mad, and surprised. We worked in small groups to review what we learned. The students are really having a fun time and learning so much!
This week we celebrated our school wide Service Commissioning prayer service. Each grade has been designated to a cause or group in which they provide service. The Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten classes partner together as the school drive coordinators. This year we will start our service with a Toys for Tots drive. Stay tuned for more information as we get closer to the holiday season.
In celebration of the season and holiday, the students watercolored fall pictures and painted our pumpkins that we "picked" from the HCA pumpkin patch!
Mrs. Barrera invited the Early Childhood classes to participate in a very cool science experiment! Mrs. Barrera created Elephant Toothpaste inside a jack-o-lantern! We mixed hydrogen peroxide, water, food coloring, yeast, and dish detergent. When we added the last ingredient, the mixture started to bubble and grow! It made a big, foamy mess! Even though the bubbly mixture didn't foam out of the pumpkin, it was still so cool to see it bubbling out of the beaker. We concluded that the pumpkin was a little too big! Still a fun and exciting experiment!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
We had a lot of fun during the Halloween Mission Party! Stay tuned next week for lots of exciting pictures from the day!
