November 18th - 22nd

We have been discussing Thanksgiving and what our plans are for Thanksgiving dinner.  Many of us will gather around the table with friends and family and visit relatives near and far!  Please enjoy the Montessori movable alphabet sentences about Thanksgiving!  It may make you hungry as you read the sentences!

This week, as part of our service drive, the Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students sorted the items that were donated for Camp Out for Hunger.  We sorted items such as canned goods, pastas, cereals, dog/cat foods, potatoes and rice, and a miscellaneous catagory!  The students were fantastic!  They worked so well together.  It was definitely a team effort!

After the items were sorted, we counted them.  Some of the students helped to count by 2's and 5's!  We used the Smart Board to make a tally sheet and see what items we had the most of and which items were the least.  The canned goods won by a landslide!

November 11th - 15th

This week the kindergarten class started having snack independently!  They are able to set their place, pour their water, and serve the snack!  They are doing a fantastic job!

In science class, we worked with a balancing scale.  We used objects from the classroom and compared their weight to 10 popcorn kernels.  The objects were:  rubber band, unifix cube, crayon, craft stick, penny, cotton ball, a plastic link and a paperclip.  The students enjoyed making predictions to see which item would be the heaviest!  Did you know a crayon weighs more than 10 popcorn kernels!!!

It's been so nice to watch friendships blossom over the last few months.  These boys and girls enjoy working and playing together!

Our hallway is filled with the season of FALL!!!!
