October 27th - 31st

As we finish up our unit on pumpkins and Halloween, we started the week with a fun Early Childhood Halloween read around.  Mrs. Deitzler, our Nursery 2 teacher, came to our classroom to read us a story!  She read the story, How to Catch a Monster."  The students loved having Mrs. Deitzler as our guest reader.

This week during our writing workshop time, the students worked on beginning, middle, and ending of stories.  They came up with their topic theme and then drew three pictures to complete the story.  Some of our friends shared their stories from the "Author's Chair" and then we shared our stories with a partner.  They students truly enjoy writing workshop!  It's such a delight to see such excitement when creating stories with pictures and getting the opportunity to share with our classmates!

To conclude our pumpkin unit, Mrs. Barrera invited the Pre-K and Kindergarten classes to participate in a very cool science experiment!  Mrs. Barrera created Elephant Toothpaste inside a jack-o-lantern!  We mixed hydrogen peroxide, water, food coloring, yeast, and dish detergent.  When we added the last ingredient, the mixture started to bubble and grow! It made a big, foamy mess that looked like toothpaste for a giant elephant.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

We had a lot of fun during the Halloween Mission Party!  Stay tuned next week for lots of exciting pictures from the day!
