December 1st - 5th

What a busy time in kindergarten this week!  We finished up Thanksgiving and slid right into the Christmas season.  We started our practice for the Christmas show.  The Pre-K and Kindergarten classes will act out the nativity while the Third-grade class narrates the story.  This will be a show you won't want to miss!

Here are a few snapshots of our "Thanksgiving" feast that we celebrated with our Early Childhood friends.  We sat family style and enjoyed popcorn, pretzels, bread and jellybeans!  A traditional Charlie Brown Thanksgiving!  It was so much fun!

This week we had so much fun with our Polar Express unit!  We read the story and discussed what we would like if we received "the first gift of Christmas!" like the boy in the story.

Kayson would like a dragon.
Callahan would like a teddy bear.

Jack would like Lamborghini car.
Kaelynn would like an elf.

Enzo would like a chocolate Easter bunny.
Munkar would like two teddy bears.

Evelyn would like a lot of marshmallows.
Sophia would like a Hot wheels.

                                                                POLAR EXPRESS DAY!!!!
Today we had our Polar Express Day where we got to wear our pajamas and watch the movie!  It was a great way to end our unit!

The boys and girls were so excited to decorate our classroom Christmas tree!  It's our very own version of a Charlie Brown Christmas tree!

We had a wonderful surprise today!  Saint Nicholas visited Holy Child Academy!  We left a shoe outside of our classroom and opened the door to a fun surprise!  He left us gold coins and candy canes!

November 17th - 21st

This week the Pre-K and Kindergarten collaborated on a fun activity called "Balloons Over Broadway!"  We listened to the story and learned the history behind the Macy's Day parade!  Next, we partnered up the students and allowed them to color a fun coloring page all about the Thanksgiving parade. Then we allowed the two partners to work together and choose a character they would like to hold together in our "Holy Child" Thanksgiving parade. Later in the week, the students worked together on coloring and cutting out their balloon characters.  We are looking forward to parading the halls of HCA next week!

Last week during science, the class worked on using a balancing scale.  We placed 10 corn kernels on one side of the scale, and other objects such as a craft stick, cotton ball, plastic cube, a coin, and crayon on the other side.  Next, we made predictions on which would be heavier, the 10 kernels or other objects from around the room.
