February 19th - 22nd

Even though we have had some missed days this week with holidays and snow days, the boys and girls continue to work hard with their lessons.  This week our words of the week are:  has, long.  The letter of the week is:  Xx.  Throughout the last few weeks, we have been working on measuring in math class.  We practiced measuring items with cubes and paperclips.  This week were used 12 inch rulers and practiced measuring items in the classroom.  We are working on using the word inches to describe the length of an object.

Happy Valentine's Day and Happy 100th Day of School!!!!!

Double the kindergarten fun today!  We had a super fun and busy day!  The 100th day of school is always a fantastic day but when you add Valentine's Day to it, it's the best!  The boys and girls counted to 100 by 1's and 10's, sat quietly for 100 seconds, did 100 exercises, and sorted objects by ten to see which bag contained one hundred items!  We read Valentine stories and had a special 100 day snack!  We got together with our Early Childhood friends and had a science lesson where we made predictions about how much liquid will fill the jar with one hundred drops!

Finding Hershey kisses and filling the one hundred board!

Special 100 day snack!

Sorting items by 10 and seeing which bag has 100 items!

February 4th - 8th

This has been a really special week at Holy Child Academy!  On Tuesday, the Early Childhood students helped to complete a school-wide service project.  Our job was to fill snack bags that were decorated by the Lower School students.  We filled the bags with juice boxes, granola bars and fruit snacks.  We explained to the students that some children do not get a snack at their school, so we are providing a special snack to make them happy!  Every child from Nursery 2 to Kindergarten did their part!  Even the youngest child can do service and feel good about it!

 PARENT VISITATION DAY!!!!

Parent Visitation Day was a success!  A huge thank you to our parents for taking time to visit today and participate in the classroom lessons.  The students really enjoyed having their parents during the morning activities!

This week CJ was our kindergarten student reader! CJ read the story, Biscuit's New Trick!  Biscuit learns to fetch a ball but ends up splashing in the mud!  Poor Biscuit.  CJ did a fantastic job reading to his classmates!
