It's been a busy week in kindergarten. We continue to work on our addition skills. This week we created a "Kindergarten Number Line" using the students. Students were given an opportunity to answer an addition problem by hopping along the number line! We will continue to work on using a number line for addition and subtraction.

This week during our writing workshop time, the students made pictures which they shared with a classmate and used it to tell a story! In writing workshop, we discuss the three ways to tell a story; written words, pictures, and speaking. Soon, the students will begin working on creating stories which have a beginning, middle and ending.

We had such a wonderful time at the Early Childhood Parent Visitation Day!!! I want to thank the Kindergarten parents for celebrating with us. The students were able to share a peek inside the window of our kindergarten classroom. We were so excited to share with you how we use the Montessori Bank Game and Movable Alphabet and to share in our joy of Mrs. Clay's music class!
"Oh the weather outside is frightful..." With our weather being so cold and snowy, we thought it would be a great idea to share some of our Montessori movable alphabet sentences with you! Each student chose a word from our Winter Word chart. Then created their own sentence!
"I'm building a snowman." |
"I like building a snowman." |
"Hot chocolate is good in winter." |
"Hot chocolate is yummy." |

Happy Birthday, Cornelia Connelly!
This week we celebrated our foundress' birthday with a special prayer service, a delicious cupcake treat, and then a fun morning with our buddy classes making friendship bracelets.
This week in math, some of the students are learning to exchange ten units for a ten stick. This is a progression skill using our Montessori Bank game which focuses on place value. Others are working on their two digit addition skills.
