Welcome to the Pre-K and Kindergarten Pumpkin Patch!
This week we started a collaborative unit with our Pre-K friends on pumpkins. We introduced the unit with a story about a trip to a pumpkin patch. Next, we visited the Holy Child pumpkin patch which we set up on the lawn outside of the school. The students were so excited to choose their own pumpkin. It was such a fun time for everyone. Later in the week, we painted our pumpkins adding colorful designs and jack-o-lantern faces!
We had a guest reader in the kindergarten class this week! Dr. Kellich visited the kindergarten class and read a very special story, "The Scarecrow and the Spider." The story is about a lonely scarecrow who doesn't have any friends. He meets a small spider and the two of them bond and become friends. They help each other and come to the realization they are never alone. God is always with us! The students loved the story which has become a tradition for Dr. Kellich to share with the kindergarten students year after year. Thank you, Dr. Kellich!
In math, the students continue to work hard learning place value using the Montessori materials such as ten sticks and units. Students worked on building two-digit numbers and counting by tens with the ten sticks.
