This week we celebrated the Blessing of the Animals prayer service with the HCA Community. It was so nice to see so many Holy Child families, including their fur babies! Even Miss Nast brought her little dog, Benny!
Over the last few weeks, the students have been working with our Montessori materials. We are matching ten sticks and units to two-digit numbers.
During our writing workshop time, some students had the opportunity to share their stories with their classmates. We talk about who the author is and what important job the author has. We discuss the three ways to tell a story: orally, written, and pictures. Right now, we are telling our stories using pictures and sharing out loud.
We continue to write phonetically with our Montessori movable alphabet. The students are putting down the letters they are hearing in the word. Next, we show them the correct way to spell the word, then they draw a picture of their word. Eventually, the students will begin writing whole sentences using the movable alphabet.

Please be sure to label gym sweatshirts and school sweaters with your child's name.
As the weather begins to change and become cooler, please send your child to school with a jacket or sweater.
