We started our week with a very special Early Childhood project including our parents and loved ones. Together, we created very special snack bags to be given out to children in need. The boys and girls decorated paper bags, wrote special messages, and filled them with delicious and healthy snacks and juices! It was such a nice event which included our parents and guests. Thank you to all who participated!
This week the students worked on creating words using the Montessori movable alphabet. We think of a word that begins with a certain letter and write it phonetically. Next, the students write the word in their journal and create a picture to go with it. Soon we will start writing phonetic sentences. This week our words of the week were: see, the. The letter of the week was: B.
This week we discussed apples during our Weekly Reader time and science. As a part of our apple unit, we created a fun looking apple tree using coffee filters, markers, and water. The students colored and decorated their apple, then using an eye dropper, wet the entire coffee filter and observed how the colors then spread and blended with one another. We painted paper plates green to act as our leaves and now our classroom apple tree is displayed in our hallway!
