November 15th - 19th

What a busy week in Kindergarten!  In math, many of  our students are working on adding two digit numbers together with a partner and building numbers with cards and materials.  The students are learning how to complete this work independently!

During religion class this week, Mrs. Barrera taught the students about the Liturgical Colors that mark the changing of the seasons in the church.  The Kindergarten learned that each color represented a special time in church's calendar.

The purple color is the color of preparation before the feast (Advent and Lent).
The white color is the color of celebration during the feast (Christmas and Easter).
The green color is the color of growing time after the feast (Ordinary Time).
The red color is for the feast of the Holy Spirit (Pentecost).

Next, students will learn more about the church's Liturgical
Calendar and begin to learn about Advent in preparation for Christmas.

Thanksgiving sentences using the Montessori Movable Alphabet.
The students chose a word or two from the chart and wrote phonetic sentences about Thanksgiving!
