April 7th - 11th

Last week, we began reading the story, Charlotte's Web, by E.B. White.  The boys and girls have really enjoyed the first few chapters of the story.  We are using our imagination to set the scenery in our minds and envision what the characters are doing.  Throughout the next few weeks as we listen the story, we will focus on what friendship means, learn new vocabulary, and embark on a new adventure of chapter books! Ask your child what happened in the story today!  We are having fabulous discussions!

We have met some very interesting characters from our story so far!  Wilbur, who is a sweet little pig who just wants a friend.  Charlotte, who is a fierce looking spider, but has the kindest heart there is.  A nasty rat named Templeton, and a very proud goose and gander who live on Zuckerman's farm.  Stay tuned for lots of crafts and activities that have to do with the novel, Charlotte's Web!

A huge thank you to our mystery readers this week.  Arie's mom came in and read a special story called Arie's Day. This story was written by Arie's grandmother so it made it an extra special story to share with her classmates.

This week Kyla celebrated her birthday with a big surprise!  Kyla's dad came in during our library time to read to the class as a birthday surprise for Kyla!  It was so special!  We listened to the story, Rainbow Fish.

Our final mystery reader for this week was Benjamin's mom!  She also read the story Rainbow Fish and the kindergarten class loved hearing it again!  It's such a great book about friendship, sharing, and kindness.  Thank you for reading to the class!

We've been keeping a close eye on the seeds we planted last week.  Some changes have occurred over the last five days.  Some friends are starting to see sprouts in there cups.  Each week we will fill out our plant growing journal with any changes we see to our plants.

EVENTS AND REMINDERS

Gym days next week:  Tuesday

Student Holiday:  April 17th - April 21st
School resumes:  Tuesday, April 22nd

Beginning Tuesday, April 22nd, your child is permitted to bring in a stuffed animal that could be found on a farm.  For example, a horse, sheep, pig, etc.  Farm animals only please!  Please do not feel the need to buy something. This will be a part of our Charlotte's Web unit.  We will use the stuffed animals for story telling, measuring with rulers, and graphing.  Please know your child MUST be willing to allow the stuffed animal to stay at school.  The stuffed animals will not go back and forth each day.

Have a wonderful weekend and a very Happy Easter!
